Consumers More Confident of Housing Market Recovery
Gloomy headlines on the state of the housing market have not entirely dampened optimism concerning the sector, according to new research from the Halifax.
According to the report, nearly a third of people believe house prices will increase in the next 12 months. Wales comes seventh in the table of regions and nations in measuring housing market optimism; with London at the top and the north east of England bottom.
The latest LSL Wales House Price Index indicates that house prices in Wales rose by 0.3% in November, in contrast to other parts of the UK where there has been a consistent fall in property values over the same period. Wales is the only part of England and Wales where house prices have risen for six consecutive months. Even London cannot boast such consistent growth. What is more, Wales is also the only area outside London where prices are higher than this time last year.
